Will it be hard for me to find a medical/dental billing job after I finish training?
I am getting ready to take a crash course medical/dental billing/coding course to get certified. Will it be very difficult for me to find a job w/ “no medical/dental experience”? Is medical/dental billing a good job for you? Why & why not?
Thank You!

Hi Kelly it all depends though. I’m not in college, or been to college, but my best advice to people in school is to do their research while in school, and after graduation. This the difference between the person who get hired right after school and the person who search months after months. Networking is the key here, but many students forget this key ingredient of job search. Do intern, ask familiy members who know where you can find a job faster after graduation. Go to jobs convention, jobs fair while still in school so you will expose yourself. It all about marketing you skills to potential employers. I hope this help you and wish you success my friend.
I am taking online courses for medical claims and billing right now..I think it will be easy to find a job in this field…The only reason it might be a little hard is because of the economy but I am hoping in a few months the economy will start picking back up again and jobs will be easy to come by again..good luck!
~~It depends greatly on the area you live in. The economy may also make it tougher. Most physicians and hospitals require experience. However there are many private firms (which will hire unexperienced billers) and once you get some experience, you will be able to get a higher paying position. Best of luck
If you are certified, you shouldn’t have a problem. Without the certification, most big hospitals won’t hire you. And most places require 1 to 2 years experience. I lucked out when I graduated, I found a job at a small hospital. I do like billing but without the certification, the pay isn’t that great so my advice is to get that certification!! Good luck, I hear the test is hard.
