I’m not sure about medical coding as I’ve never done it. However, I’ve been an insurance adjuster for over 18 yrs. I must say it is rewarding, but it is also extremely stressful. If you are a career oriented person, it’s probably the way to go.
It can be frustrating. You have to code things the “right” way (which can sometimes vary plan to plan) in order to be paid properly and promptly. It’s also a problem if the doctors don’t document clearly and fully – I tell mine that if they don’t write it, it didn’t happen.
BUT it’s rewarding to get new codes (there’s new things you can bill for all the time) paid and paid well.
