Have you or someone you know completed the online medical coding certificate program with Kaplan University?

How long did it take you to find a job in medical coding after completing the certificate program. Did you get the CCA certification? Was the program good enough in preparing you to become certified?

No. It is a complete waste of time. 5 years ago anyone could get a job in medical billing or medical coding. Why,,, because the work is so boring that everyone quits in 2 weeks. And the pay is the lowest in a field that is already known for being underpaid. There were thousands of openings.
Now Kaplan is “playing” on that idea that there are hundreds of jobs in coding by offering classes. The problem is that people stopped quitting after 2 weeks due to the bad economy. And doctor’s offices stopped hiring and actually laid-off coders.
So you will get a certificate that will not get you a job. And waste your time and money. Skip it.
You may want to check in with AHIMA (American health information management association) for accredited schools.
Kaplan University is widely regarded as nothing more than a diploma mill. A degree from them is virtually worthless. There are thousands of complaints about them regarding promises of job placement that never happened. Check my link or just do a Google on Kaplan University.
